I Let You Go | Clare Mackintosh | Book Review | Sumi Reads

A brief introduction:
Five year old child Jacob is hit by a car while returning home from school with his mother. Jenna Gray, devastated by the incident, moves to a remote area to live on her own and escape her traumatic past. Detectives try to investigate the accident and find out who was involved in the hit-and-run and why they failed to stop at the scene. Do they figure out the bad guy? Are they punished? What made them drive away after killing a child? Read the book to find out.

I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

What I liked:
-has a lot of twists and turns
-everything is so well-written
-we get multiple POVs
-gives an insight into how cases are handled by the police in reality (the author is a former police officer herself)

What I didn't like:
-the pace is too slow in the begininng till a big twist is revealed almost towards the middle of the book
-being a thriller lover and reader, I predicted a couple of twists in the story

Trigger warnings:
The novel contains domestic violence, child death and animal abuse. Keep these in mind if you are looking forward to read this book.

Rating:
My rating is somewhere between 3.5 and 4. Had I not guessed some of it, I bet I would've given it a 4+. If you're new to the genre, I'm sure you'd be blown away by the plot. Even if you're a thriller reader like me, it's definitely worth reading!
